The Method

Practice Flow

A structured path from technique to performance.

01 — The Method

The Practice Flow architecture

The five pillars are at once sequential and parallel stages that, together, support the repertoire — and, ultimately, the performance.

  1. 1

    Diagnose

    Identify the real challenge.

  2. 2

    Plan

Set clear goals and organize your practice.

  3. 3

    Practice

    Apply targeted exercises and strategies.

  4. 4

    Integrate

    Connect and build continuity.

  5. 5

    Perform

    Share your music with confidence.

02 — Repertoire study

Four readings of a piece or concerto

From a first overview to connections across repertoire: four complementary ways to understand and develop your interpretation.

  1. A violin and musical scores illustrating four stages of repertoire study01

    Elementary Reading

    Map the music

Read through the piece without focusing on any one specific element. This first reading maps the music as a whole, offering an initial sense of its shape and musical journey.

  2. 02

    Inspectional Reading

    Identify the elements

Inspect the passages and separate the elements that make up the piece. Identify rhythms, bowings, articulation and musical ideas to understand what each passage requires.

  3. 03

    Analytical Reading

    Refine each passage

Work in depth on the passages you have identified. Refine their technical and musical elements through deliberate practice, improving precision, control and expression.

  4. 04

    Syntopical Reading

    Connect similarities

Learn to bring together passages with similar elements, within the same piece or across parallel works. Shared technical and musical features connect your practice and carry learning from one context to another.

03 — Performance

From preparation to performance

  1. Plan

Define clear goals for each session and identify what matters most.

  2. Technical preparation

Develop the four pillars in parallel — bow exercise, left hand articulation, scales and double stops.

  3. Repertoire study

Apply technique to concert and chamber music repertoire.

  4. Performance

Bring everything together with confidence on stage, in auditions and competitions.
